1. Payment
Registration forms must be filled out completely and payment must be included for registrations to be accepted. Registration is not considered complete until all necessary forms and payment have been received by the program registrar.

Payment must be made in full, in Canadian funds, by cash, cheque, direct debit, Visa or MasterCard. Payment by direct debit, Visa or MasterCard must be made in person only.

If taking advantage of any early registration discounts, payment in full must be received by the program registrar prior to the early registration deadline. No partial or post-dated payments will be accepted when taking advantage of early registration discounts.

In the event of cheques returned for insufficient funds, any person having issued two or more returned cheques to the club must make all subsequent payments to the club by either cash, certified cheque, money order or bank draft, or point-of-sale credit card or debit transaction. A $25 administration fee will be charged for all NSF cheques.

A fee of $20 shall apply to any registration or payment received after the season registration date (date determined by the club board of directors).

Changes to a session choice may be made, space permitting, within two weeks of the beginning of a skating season. Any changes made subsequent to this period will incur a $10 session change fee. If the change request is made to accommodate a coach, the request must come directly from the coach and the fee may be waived.

Pro-rating of registration fees may begin after November 1st during the fall/winter season. There is no pro-rating of fees during the spring season.

All known cancelled days have been factored into session pricing.

2. Changes to Schedule
All WRSSSC programs are subject to change based on enrollment. Affected skaters will be notified, then the revised schedule posted.

3. Refunds
After the first two weeks in any skating season, WRSSSC does not offer refunds/credits without a medical note. A $25 administration fee will be charged for any refund or credit. The Skate Canada fee is not refundable, and the cost of any sessions skated prior to the withdrawal request will be deducted from the refund/credit amount. (Sessions skated includes registered sessions irrespective of whether skater actually attended the session.)

All requests for medical refunds/credits must be put in writing addressed to the Board of Directors and must be accompanied by a doctor’s note. Skaters must have missed a minimum of five consecutive sessions due to that illness or injury before a refund/credit is considered.

The only exception to this policy is where there is consensus between the coach and parent/guardian that the child is too young to benefit from the lessons arranged. Such requests must be submitted by the end of the child’s fourth lesson.

Any refund/credit request after the final day of skating before the seasonal break will be issued as a Credit Voucher towards future ice costs (transferable to other family members) within one year.

All known cancelled days have been factored into pricing. The WRSSSC does not guarantee refunds/credits in the event of ice cancellations by the Arena, by mechanical breakdown, or acts of nature.

4. STARSkate Registration Policies

4 (a) Registration Policies

  • Skaters should book private or semi-private lessons with a professional coach before registering for freeskate, skills or dance sessions.
  • Skaters’ second skating session choice must be a morning session. (Dance & Accelerated STARSkate excluded).
  • To ensure maximum benefit and safety, registration is limited on some sessions and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
  • Skaters may only purchase or buy-on to sessions for which they are qualified.
  • Any skater purchasing or buying on to WRSSSC sessions must provide proof of current Skate Canada membership.
  • Any skater wishing to register through WRSSSC as a home club member, and be eligible to compete or take tests as a WRSSSC member, must purchase at least one on-ice session. The only exception to this policy is any skater who is competing, or has competed, at a National level, or any adult skater (eighteen years or older). Those skaters exempt from the policy must instead purchase a minimum of five (5) buy-on booklets (worth ten hours of buy-on tickets). Any adult skater who does not wish to test or compete, may process his or her Skate Canada registration through the WRSSSC with no obligation to purchase buyons.
  • All known cancelled days have been factored into session pricing; any unscheduled cancellations may be reimbursed with buy-on coupons.

This Code applies to all parent/guardians with skaters involved in the White Rock South Surrey Skating Club. I understand that I must act in accordance with the following:

  • I will never ridicule or yell at my child or other participant for making a mistake or blame my child’s teammates for placement in a competition.
  • I will do my best to make skating fun and will remember that my child participates in sports for his/her own enjoyment and satisfaction, not my own.

  • I will show appreciation and recognize the importance of volunteers and club officials.
  • I will support all the participants in my child’s competition and respect the rights of all skaters to participate.
